BTGuard Review

BTGuard

Our Rating ★☆☆☆☆

BTguard is one of the most well known anonymous bittorrent services out there thanks largely to it’s ‘endorsement’ by TorrentFreak. Well, BTGuard advertise on that site anyway.

It’s a very basic, no frills OpenVPN or PPTP service and lacks any kind of client. Set up is manual via the standard windows OpenVPN client or via control panel for PPTP.

Editor’s Review

We are frankly surprised this service receives any kind of endorsement from a respected site like TorrentFreak but, hey they’ve got to pay the bills as well, right?

We found the service almost unusable from Europe using the Canada servers and vice versa from the US using the EU or Canada servers. We just about got an acceptable download speed using PPTP on the EU server but even then it was patchy and dropped frequently.

Customer service is non-existent and forget about claiming a refund. Avoid like the plague.
